We designed our original question set in 1998. Based on Good Medical Practice, the question set was developed in focus groups at Trafford General Hospital and Kidderminster Hospital. Statistical tests on the data collected demonstrated high degrees of reliability with good face and content validity.
The question set has been redeveloped since 1998 and re-tested at each stage of development to ensure it remains valid and reliable. It also underwent review by an expert panel of senior medical professionals and appraisal/MSF experts in late 2008 so we can be sure that the question set is as relevant, valid and reliable as it can be for use in hospital and general practice environments.
The colleague questionnaire comprises 33 questions arranged under the same 4 domains within the GMC’s Good Medical Practice Framework for Appraisal and Assessment:
The patient questionnaire has 19 questions which are also matched to the Good Medical Practice’s.
